When should I take my child for the first haircut?

This is entirely up to you as the parent. It is time for a haircut whenever you feel it is necessary or if the hair is in the eyes of the child. Some children have much more hair then the next child and have their first haircut as early as 5 weeks, others don't have one until they are 2 or even older. Children with hairstyles such as bobs and Mohicans tend to need more up keep so consider this when coming in.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes it is advisable to make an appointment as this makes the experience easy. However we do offer a walk in service but it is not guaranteed that we will be able to see you so please do book in.

Who is your best stylist?

Every stylist at Happy Faces has a clientele that swears that they are the best. Happy Faces pride ourselves on great customer service and only employ the best stylist suitable for the position and all undertake training before being employed by us. We believe that they are all excellent, but remember they all do work differently so once you find one you love stick with them. We will do everything we can to see that you are satisfied and remain satisfied on every visit. Even as a walk-in, we encourage you to request your favourite stylist.

Why should I care who cuts my child's hair?

When we go to adult salons we tend to build a relationship with the stylist. If my stylist was unavailable it is unlikely I would want it done by anyone else. While the other stylists in the salon may be just as good, my stylist understands my hair. At Happy Faces, we aim to build the same relationship. By working with the same stylist, a point of reference is developed and you can feel secure when sending the kids with other family members or friends that your stylist will meet your goals and the same style of cut.

What if my child doesn't cooperate?

We will do whatever we can to make you experience a success. We have years of experience dealing with kids that do not want to get their hair cut. If the experience is going badly it is easy to think, "I'm here now lets just do it", holding them down does not always help! With children trust is everything and if your child does not let you go near their head at home then the stylist will have no chance at all. Brushing their hair at home on a regular basis makes them used to people touching their head and this will help.

Does my child get their hair washed?

Younger kids and their parents are satisfied with the hair being sprayed with water. However if you would like it washed just tell us when booking and that is fine. Our staff will offer the service when they think it is appropriate.

Do I lose my appointment or get charged if I'm late?

We will hold the appointment for as long as we can, but we will consider it lost if you are more than 10 minutes late. We appreciate if you call us if you are running late or if you are unable to make it, but there is no charge for cancelling.

How long dose it take?

Each haircut differs depending on the child's reaction and hair they have. We issue you with a 30-minute slot with every appointment, sometimes you can be in and out in ten minutes sometimes you can run over.

What happens if I'm unhappy half way through?

As the parent you know your child better than anyone. If the stylist is doing something that you think could be done better then tell them! Unfortunately hair stylists are not miracle workers and can only go off what you tell them. If you find it difficult describing a haircut please feel free to bring in magazine cut outs or previous pictures of your child. It is extremely important to get involved and stay with your child.

If I'm happy can I tip the stylist?

Yes of course you can. It works the same as you would do at an adult salon, if you are happy with the job and would like to reward your stylist then they would be more than happy with a tip.

If I'm unhappy what do I do?

At Happy Faces we pride ourselves on great customer service and the best children's haircuts, however if for any reason you may be unhappy it is vital that you mention this while you are in the store. This will help us rectify the issue and prevent it from occurring to anyone else that visits us in the future.
